Learn more & FAQ
What does this password generator do?
This tool generates cryptographically random passwords entirely in your browser - nothing you generate is sent anywhere or stored on a server. Set the length and which character sets to include (uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols), and get a new random password instantly, as many times as you need.
How to pick good settings
For most accounts, 16+ characters with every character set enabled is a solid default. Only narrow the character sets if a specific site restricts what it accepts (some still disallow certain symbols). Once generated, store the password in a password manager rather than reusing it or trying to remember it.
Frequently asked questions
Are passwords generated here sent to a server?
No - every password is generated locally in your browser using the Web Crypto API's random number generator. Nothing is transmitted or logged, so a password you generate here is never seen by Paqet or anyone else.
How long should my password be?
16 characters or longer is a reasonable minimum for most accounts today. Length matters more than complexity rules - a long random password is harder to brute-force than a shorter one stuffed with symbols, even though both feel similarly "complex" to type.
Should I include symbols and numbers, or just letters?
Mixing uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols increases the pool of possible characters at each position, which increases the total number of guesses an attacker needs. Turn on every character set this tool offers unless a specific site restricts which characters it accepts.
Is it safe to reuse a generated password across multiple sites?
No - reusing any password means a breach at one site can be used to access accounts on every other site where you reused it. Generate a new, unique password for each account and store them in a password manager rather than memorizing or reusing them.
What makes a password "strong" beyond just length?
True randomness matters as much as length - a password should not be based on dictionary words, personal information, or predictable patterns, since those are exactly what password-cracking tools try first regardless of how long the result looks.
